Registering for MFA (Multifactor Authentication)

I need Microsoft Authenticator

To start, Open a new “InPrivate” window in your browser, copy the following link and paste it

https://myaccount.microsoft.com

Note – you may be asked for your DE email and password. Please provide this

Click on ‘Update Info‘.

Click on ‘Add Method‘.

Click on ‘Authenticator App‘.

STOP – Time to set up your mobile

For Android devices, scan the QR code above

For Apple devices, scan the QR code above

I already have Microsoft Authenticator

Follow the steps below to add your account. You will be working between your laptop and your phone, once you have downloaded the app, hit next on the laptop till you get to the QR code

Open the Authenticator app on your phone

Select (+) > ‘add work or school account‘.

Using your phone, scan the QR code on your desktop or follow the instructions provided in your account settings

Follow prompts till completion. A code will be sent to test authentication is working. Once validated, your first method is set up

Adding a second authentication method

On your desktop – go back to ‘add method‘ screen and select second method and follow steps through, clicking ‘next‘ when prompted

I use MFA on my mobile device – I need to set up my DE account in the authenticator

Follow the previous steps in this guide, from opening the authenticator app till the end. You will not need to download the app again

Setting up your default MFA

On your desktop – set up your default method by clicking on default sign in method > Change.

Select the Microsoft Authentication notification option
